I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster, and leaves less room for lies.
Le Corbusier

... describe your sorrows and desires, the thoughts that pass through your mind and your belief in some kind of beauty – describe all these with heartfelt, silent, humble sincerity and, when you express yourself, use the things around you, the images from your dreams, and the objects that you remember.
Rainer Maria Rilke (letters to a young poet)

Drawing is also Faye’s preference of dialogue. She believes it is far easier, less tangled and more comprehensible to speak through drawing in ink and stitched canvases.

Her work draws out images that are familiar yet begin to touch the abstract. Their content, describing the thoughts that go through her mind resonate with Rilkes words on her belief in some kind of beauty.

In her work many small drawings give birth to large stitched and painted canvases or series’ of square format paintings. She often thinks the drawings are more loose and poignant whilst the paintings are works in progress. In drawing one not only voices their thoughts, they do indeed sing.

To draw, you must close your eyes and sing.
Pablo Picasso
